Marketing the Importance of Education for Your Workers

Your employees can never have enough education; at least that is what you should always be thinking.

In today’s business world, the degree to which many companies compete against one another means workers must be as skilled as possible to best help their employers. For those employees lagging behind on education and skills, the uphill battle can be long and oftentimes disappointing.

When looking to hire new employees, your business can market itself in myriad of ways, ways that demonstrate your company is serious about competing in today’s global marketplace.

So, are you spending the right amount of time and effort marketing the importance of education for your workers?

Highlight Why Your Business Stands Out

In order for your business to stand out from the competition, you need to give your current and prospective employees all the tools possible to shine.

Among these tools is advancing their educations.

Whether you are marketing online accounting degrees, degrees in technology, advancing one’s education in human resources, the possibilities are quite frankly endless.

When a prospective employee views your company as a possible place to work at, he or she should see a couple of important signs during your marketing efforts:

  1. Opportunity – First and foremost, do you give employees the opportunity to grow within your company? Think about it; employers that leave employees in the same position and typically with little or no salary advancement are usually the same employers that have high turnover rates. Why would a prospective employee feel compelled to come and work for your business if he or she sees there is little or no opportunity to grow? Companies offering opportunities for individual and professional growth tend to stand out in today’s workforce, something that is of course positive, but also a tad bit disappointing. If you stop and think about it, shouldn’t all employers offer such opportunities?

  2. Finances – If you are offering advanced education for employees, how will it be paid for? Some employers are willing to foot the entire bill, provided of course their employees seeking more education will benefit from it. In turn, those workers will bring what they learned in accounting, technology, human resources, advertising or marketing etc. back to the workplace. Once they have those added skills, they can then apply them to their jobs, along with helping co-workers improve upon their overall performances each and every day. If you are an employer that will pay for a portion of the educational opportunities for interested workers, be sure to convey this in your job ads and in interviews. Lastly, for those companies not willing to pay towards employees furthering their educations, do your best to provide some incentives, giving workers reason to want to add to their knowledge base. Some employees may be willing to pay for such expenses, knowing that the added education will enhance their opportunities either with your company or another one somewhere down the road.

Market Educational Opportunities Numerous Ways

As you look to market your company’s opportunities for growth via advanced education, you can do this in several manners.

First, your website is a great resource for what you want to tell the world about your business.

If you are posting career opportunities on your site, include information in there about encouraging employees to gain as much education as possible while under your employ.

This should also be done when you are posting help wanted ads online, in trade publications etc. Never shy away from the fact that your business encourages its employees to have as much education as they can.

Social media is also a good tool for marketing your company’s desire to have well-educated workers.

Sites such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter etc. are great venues for mentioning how important education is for anyone and everyone coming to work for you.

You can also put out short videos on your own website and YouTube, highlighting how employees with advanced education and skills tend to shine at your company.

No matter what the industry, more and more companies have come to realize over time that the best educated employees tend to be the ones not only most sought after, but also appreciated and kept employed for many years to come.

When marketing your brand, always stress the important role advanced education plays in hiring and retaining employees.
