Registration Opens for Google Code Jam 2005Programmers Worldwide Invited to Compete in Google's Third Annual Coding Competition PromotionWorld.com Google Inc. (www.google.com) today announced that registration is now open for Google Code Jam 2005, Google's annual online coding competition consisting of a series of problem-solving challenges that invite participants to select a programming language and use their programming skills to code solutions to the problems. Programmers interested in competing can register at http://www.topcoder.com/googlecodejam. "The Google Code Jam celebrates some of the best work in problem solving from the fastest and most talented computer scientists in the world," said Alan Eustace, vice president, Engineering, Google Inc. "Google is proud to support their amazing talents and provide opportunities to consider joining our research and development offices in Brazil, China, Japan, Europe, India, or elsewhere." Qualification rounds begin August 22, and the 100 finalists will be invited to compete in the Championship Round to be held at Google headquarters in Mountain View, Calif., on September 23, 2005. Finalists will divide $155,000 in prize money: Grand Prize winner: $10,000 The Google Code Jam is powered by TopCoder, the leader in online programming competition, skills assessment and competitive software development. Last year, more than 7,500 participants from more than 100 countries competed in the Google Code Jam. Sergio Sancho of Buenos Aires, Argentina was the winner of the 2004 competition, and Jimmy Mardell of Stockholm, Sweden, took home the grand prize in 2003.
