Funnelback Releases the Latest Version of its Internet & Enterprise Search Engine

Internet & enterprise search engine company Funnelback has just released Funnelback Version 6 of its software as a service and server based search engine platform.

Version 6 will deliver improved searching capabilities for Funnelback's customers - including a TRIM crawler, a brand new administration interface, new reporting systems and in-built support for incorporating click-data into result rankings.

•   Funnelback's new crawler for Tower Software's TRIM electronic document and records management system allows it to perform full text and metadata searches over records stored in TRIM data repositories. Searches can either be performed from an ordinary desktop browser or federated with searches of other corporate information sources such as intranets and databases. TRIM is used around the world by companies and organisations across a broad range of market verticals.

•   The new Funnelback administration interface is the result of a complete re-design, making it cleaner and easier to use.

•   Funnelback's new reporting system provides detailed abstracts on end-user sentiment and can aid in making more informed decisions about the information available on websites and intranets. The reports include which search results end-users are clicking on, which search terms are returning results and which are not. The reports can also be used to tune the 14 factors of the Funnelback ranking algorithm so the search results are of higher value to end-users.

•   Funnelback's new click feedback capability adds a human element to the practice of information retrieval by continuously and automatically incorporating end-user search result click-feedback into the ranking algorithm. Click feedback enables the search engine to learn which results have historically been most useful to the end-users, enabling subsequent delivery of higher value search results accordingly.

The much anticipated Version 6 will be offered in both Funnelback Server for Web and Funnelback Server for Enterprise, as well as being the major upgrade for Funnelback's software as a service product - Funnelback Hosted (www.funnelback.com).
