Visual Sciences, Inc. (formerly known as WebSideStory, Inc.), a leading provider of real-time analytics applications, announced that it has consolidated under a single brand, changing its name to Visual Sciences, Inc. In addition, the company announced its common stock, which trades on the Nasdaq Global Market, will begin trading under the symbol “VSCN” effective with the opening of trading on Thursday, May 10, 2007.

Visual Sciences and WebSideStory merged in February 2006 and both company brands had been in use since. The company’s decision to use only the Visual Sciences’ brand going forward is symbolic and illustrates the company’s single-minded focus on delivering the best real-time analytics applications for enterprises who want to understand and gain insight from complex data to optimize their businesses. It marks the company’s commitment to delivering fundamentally superior technology for its clients who must create meaning out of an explosion of data and an ocean of interrelated customer events. The company was born from providing real-time analytics for the Web, but as vital as the Web is, it is only one of many channels of customer interaction. Also vital are the contact center, the evolving retail point-of-sale, and other channels of customer and company activity data that require real-time analytics.

“We remain committed to Web and Internet channel analytics and are expanding our application footprint. Our clients have made it clear they wish to use our real-time analytics capabilities to better understand all of the customer interaction data in their enterprises. The Web is one of the most important, but not the only, channel of this interaction,” said Jim MacIntyre, chief executive officer of Visual Sciences. “Our clients ultimately need a comprehensive view of their customers, not only the slice that comes from the Web. Our choice of Visual Sciences as our one name going forward signifies our commitment to helping our clients profit from the explosion of customer data that they face, regardless of the channel that it comes from. We chose Visual, because humans are visual creatures and complex data is best communicated and understood in rich, interactive and graphic ways; and Sciences because the scientific method of hypothesis, testing and measurement is the only proven method of ongoing performance optimization.”

Visual Sciences offers a comprehensive portfolio of real-time analytics applications:

  • Web and Internet Channel Analytics. The analysis and optimization of digital marketing programs and Web sites is where Visual Sciences started and where it continues to provide its clients, regardless of their level of analytics experience, with the right application for understanding and optimizing the performance of those marketing programs and Web sites. Visual Sciences provides HBX™ Analytics, which delivers the fundamental and standard reporting and analysis capabilities that most organizations need to optimize their digital marketing programs, as well as Visual Site®, the uncompromising choice for Internet channel teams that need integrated real-time analysis and optimization of their on-line and related offline initiatives.

  • Contact Center Analytics. In 2005, Visual Sciences began expanding across other customer facing channels with the release of Visual Call® and Visual Mail™, the first-of-a-kind contact center analytics applications that provide integrated reporting, analysis and optimization solutions for interactive voice response (IVR), electronic mail-based customer support and other contact center systems and services. Visual Call and Visual Mail deliver the intelligence companies need to understand customer behavior and optimize customer experience with self-service voice and messaging systems.

  • Customer Analytics. Visual Sciences’ Technology Platform 5™ provides the industry’s most powerful real-time customer analytics platform. Platform 5’s unique real-time analytics engine delivers the ad-hoc customer segmentation and metrics analysis capabilities not possible with the most expensive data warehouse and business intelligence solutions. Platform 5’s speed and flexibility deliver answers to the hard questions that traditional business intelligence solutions cannot address quickly or cost-effectively.

  • Tailored Analytics Applications. The Visual Sciences’ Technology Platform that the real-time analytics applications are built on is used by global corporations and the intelligence community to rapidly field powerful real-time analytics solutions. Organizations have deployed solutions based on Platform 5 to analyze credit card transactions, kiosk customer activity, DNS system data, wire transactions, level 2-7 network activity data, survey data, and many other types of high volume customer and system event data.

  • Analytics-Driven Applications. Visual Sciences has invested significantly in the development of analytics-driven applications. Its award winning Search application provides Web site search capabilities; its Publish application manages the publication of content on the Internet; and its Bid application manages the search term bidding process. Each of these applications take input from Visual Sciences’ analytics products to optimize their performance.
In separate announcements, the company today unveiled a new version of its real-time analytics applications technology platform (see press release, “Visual Sciences’ Technology Platform 5 Unveiled”) and a new release of its award-winning HBX Analytics (see press release, Visual Sciences Unveils HBX Analytics 4.0”). These flagship products leverage the expertise and best-of-breed technologies from Visual Sciences to fully support customers as their analytics needs evolve with complexity and experience.
