New Apartment and Roommate Search Service

There's nothing more annoying than going to one of those "free" online roommate services and filling out form after form, only to find out that if you want to actually find a roommate, you have to pay. There are many different roommate sites out there, and they all claim to be free. But when it comes down to it, they all offer a "premium" service, which is just a thinly veiled subscription fee for basic services. Do you want to send a message to a potential roommate? Sorry, that requires premium membership. Visa or Mastercard?

I just recently had to find a roommate for my apartment in DC. It took a long time. I went to a many different sites, and filled out form after form of personal information. After all was said and done, not one of them helped me find a roommate. That was until I found http://www.JoLocate.com.

JoLocate is a different. For one, it's completely free. There were no charges whatsoever. They actually divide their site into two main areas. The first piece - http://www.JoLocate.com/Roommates.aspx - is a roommate matching service. It's great because you can actually search by location. Potential roommates plug in their desired location (Where do I want to live). You can then search on these location preferences as well as others. It's a pretty slick interface. It is fast and easy to find a roommate.

The other main section of their website - http://www.JoLocate.com/Listings.aspx - provides apartment listings. Again, it's easy to use, and it's all based on a map. You can see exactly where all the different apartments are and quickly find a place that is in the location you want and the budget you have available.

The website is perfect because it blends two features that typically you have to go to separate websites to find. You can find a roommate that you're compatible with, and also an apartment that is available all on the same site. Definitely worth a look, it saved me lot of time and I'm sure it will help you as well.
