that a search engine is a unique business service, one that has real
social responsibilities to people and businesses worldwide. And this
responsibility can only be met by placing the interests of the search
engine users (people and businesses) ahead of any profit or share price
motivations.
To be clear, we certainly are not saying that a not-for-profit business
model is the only way to best serve the public, no, in most cases a
for-profit business model is the natural best choice. However, there
are rare cases when a not-for-profit business model delivers the best
value to the public, such as a court of law, such as Universities, etc
.... We believe a search engine is also one of those rare cases, since
it is a critical gateway to all information/commerce, and hence, for
the maximum benefit of the public. It should be as affordable as
possible and it should be absolutely free of any self interest in the
information that it dispenses. That is why AnooX, at great expense to
its share holders, and for the benefit of the public, will be operating
as a not-for-profit search engine.
The Key implications of AnooX Not-For-Profit business model are:
1) AnooX will minimize pay-per-click advertising rates. We are doing
this by using a unique method for the sale of pay-per-click ads that
de-emphasizes the price factor and instead emphasizes non-pricing
factors.
2) AnooX will only be in the search engine business, and no other. This
means unlike Google, Yahoo & MSN which are in 100's of different
businesses and getting into more every day, you will not find AnooX in
competition with your business tomorrow.
3) AnooX will share its profit with community members & others.
Should AnooX have any profits, we will give this profit away to AnooX
community members, and to other non-profits working for public interest
causes.
