SchemaLogic Releases New Business Semantics Management SolutionJuly 25, 2006; 02:58 AM SchemaLogic, a leader in business semantics management and integration
for Global 5000 companies, today released version 4.1 of the
SchemaLogic Enterprise Suite, the company's Business Semantics
Management (BSM) solution. Enterprise Suite 4.1 allows data and content
applications and services to share common terms, taxonomies and
semantics, providing better information management and increased data
quality. Organizations can use Enterprise Suite 4.1 to manage business semantics as a repeatable business process by providing a framework to: -- model the taxonomy structure and information relationships, -- govern and manage change, -- publish semantics to subscribing systems, and -- facilitate collaboration to allow the entire organization to participate in the taxonomy's expansion and maintenance. The suite provides a single view into multiple sources of information, helping employees, partners, and customers to access commonly understood terminology and information and resolve the problems caused by the mismatched language used across the enterprise. "Enterprises have deployed a fractured web of interconnected applications, data bases and content silos in an effort to automate the delivery of products and services," said Jeff Dirks, president and chief executive officer of SchemaLogic. "SchemaLogic Enterprise Suite 4.1 helps businesses to be more agile by providing them with a powerful tool to transform business semantics management into a repeatable business process, breaking down content silos and empowering organizations to communicate in a dynamic environment, delivering more efficient results from the data." Reed Business selected SchemaLogic Enterprise Suite to improve the quality of data and relevance of search results for Kellysearch.com, the Web's largest B2B search portal. Kellysearch.com receives between 20 and 40 million hits per month and is built upon a taxonomy of more than 200,000 terms attached to 2 million companies. SchemaLogic enables Kellysearch to accelerate its international expansion, drive revenue growth, and streamline business processes by empowering content contributors, and enhance business capabilities. "Our world-class taxonomy is vital to our ongoing success and is an essential component of effective search and search engine optimization strategies," said Jan Altendorff, Kellysearch technical projects director. "The SchemaLogic platform was selected to provide our taxonomists with state-of-the-art facilities to support transformation of our taxonomy into an ontology; enabling Kellysearch to deliver highly sophisticated search results and navigation functionality to our customers." Below are a few key features of SchemaLogic Enterprise Suite 4.1: -- Improved Data Streaming - Search results contain smaller incremental batches or pages, reducing memory requirements and increasing response times for data results. -- Searchable Extension Properties - Extends the set of properties associated with vocabulary terms and enhances how Extension Properties are stored and maintained allows these extensions to be searched, sorted and filtered. -- Term Manager - Presents terms in context of their relationships in a tabled view where system/extension properties and localized values can all be configured in the view. -- Import/Export - Supports both ad-hoc and regularly scheduled batch data file imports of vocabulary data into Enterprise Suite. -- Workshop - Enhanced to meet accessibility standards improving the use of software for those that are handicapped or with special needs. -- Clone, Graft and Merge Vocabulary - Allows improved management of large vocabularies. Provides options for creating a complete copy of a vocabulary (deep clone) or only copying the term relationships to a new vocabulary (shallow clone). Graft and Merge provides the ability to quickly move data from one vocabulary to another by grafting to a new node or merging nodes. -- IBM OmniFind Adapter - New adapter allows taxonomists and knowledge workers to import, develop and manage taxonomies within SchemaServer and publish to WebSphere Information Integrator OmniFind Edition, IBM's Enterprise Search offering. Adaptor supports rule-based taxonomy, synonym dictionary, word boost dictionary, and stop word dictionary. Dirks added, "It's estimated that 65% of the $300 billion spent annually on systems integration is due to semantic mismatches. Enterprise Suite 4.1 offers organizations an unprecedented solution for managing business semantics and unlocking the power of information assets across the enterprise. With Enterprise Suite 4.1, organizations can access the information they need to make critical decisions and to react quickly to changing business situations." Enterprise Suite 4.1 is available direct from SchemaLogic, as well as through international resellers and distributors, and the company's strategic partners channel model, which enables global reach supported by a direct channel for large corporate accounts. Current strategic partners include IBM, Microsoft and FAST.
