WangYou Media, Baidu.com Establish Strategic Partnership in Channel Cooperation and User-generated Content Sharing

September 26, 2006; 05:58 AM

WangYou Media, a leading cross-media entertainment services provider in China focused on user-generated content (UGC), funded by Charles River Ventures, is delighted to announce today that it has established a strategic partnership with China's top search engine Baidu.com (www.baidu.com) in development and promotion of Web-based multi-media content.

Under the partnership, Beijing-based WangYou Media has agreed to syndicate a rich pool of multi-media content including user-generated film clips, short video series and entertainment programs to Baidu.com, China's largest and most popular search engine, to help enrich the latter's offerings on its specialized movie channel and meet the rising demand for entertaining content online from the young generation of Internet users.

With more than 123 million ''netizens'', of which more than 50 per cent come from the young demographic aged up to 24, China has risen to become the world's second largest Internet market by users. However, original online contents available in the Chinese language are still inadequate and relatively rudimentary while the country's young Internet users are eager to discover and experience new technology and formats of audio-visual art, industry analysts and market watchers have said.

''We are very proud to team up with Baidu.com to develop and promote Web- based contents together under the framework of a strategic partnership. There is no doubt that the collaboration will offer WangYou users an even wider stage to perform and express themselves in various art forms, and share with their peers,'' said Mr. Buddy Ye, Co-founder and CEO of WangYou Media. ''We are also happy to see that Baidu.com diversifies its services by incorporating onto their platform more user-generated content
from the creative youth, and that we become their first partner in the UGC area,'' he added.

The two leading Internet services providers have also agreed to explore further opportunities to cooperate on content development and joint services promotion through various platforms operated by Baidu.com and WangYou Media's entertainment site wangyou.com.

WangYou Media, officially launched in March 2005, has been dedicated to providing China's online youth community with a web 2.0 technology-enabled multi-media platform for creating, sharing, organizing and distributing all kinds of original digital amateur works, including personal journals, photo albums, Podcasting, music files, video clips, flash animation, and more. Through collaborations with leading players like Baidu.com and others, WangYou Media is vigorously broadening its distribution channels to promote and capitalize on the wealth of unique content generated by its young and dynamic users growing vigorously in number and level of participation.

Earlier this year, WangYou Media also announced a partnership with Hong Kong-listed Tencent Holding's QQ.com, one of the leading online media and value-added information services providers in China also targeting the online youth community, to make available WangYou-labeled multi-media content to the latter's hundreds of millions of users.

WangYou Media (www.wangyou.com) is a diversified and integrated Chinese language media entertainment company with operations in Internet Services, Mobile Value Added Services and Multimedia Broadcasting. Through its cross-media platform, the Company focuses on promoting user-generated content (UGC) - a process of creating, sharing, organizing and distributing all kinds of digital amateur works, including personal journals, photo albums, radio talk shows, home movies, flash animation, cartoons and more. WangYou Media is funded by Charles River Ventures.
