Fionn Downhill of Elixir Systems Elected to the Board of SEMPO

Fionn Downhill, the President and CEO of Elixir Systems, has been elected to the 2007 board of directors of the Search Engine Marketing Professional Organization (SEMPO). The SEMPO election was held in February. SEMPO is a non-profit professional association working to increase awareness and promote the value of search engine marketing. Search engine marketing is used to increase site visibility in search engine results.

Prior to the election, Ms. Downhill served as co-chair of the SEMPO Education Committee. She played a major role in developing the SEMPO Institute, an online educational resource which offers training in basic and advanced search engine marketing.

"It is an honor to be elected to the board and I plan on continuing my commitment to the organization, its members and the industry by serving on the SEMPO board of directors," said Ms. Downhill. "I'm sure that 2007 will be another landmark year for both the organization and its members and for the search marketing industry."

Search engine marketing has become an important part of the marketing mix for many organizations. According to a recent study by SEMPO, search engine marketing spending rose to $9.4 billion in 2006 and is expected to double in 5 years.

"The search engine marketing industry is growing rapidly," said Ms. Downhill. "The industry is facing many challenges particularly in relation to growth management. I feel that the SEMPO Institute will play a major role in filling the need for trained staff. As the industry grows, SEMPO will continue to play a major role in guiding the industry and its members as it becomes a mature established industry."

Fionn Downhill was born and raised in Ireland. After completing her management education, she was actively involved in the fields of education and training. She received advanced training qualifications with the prestigious Guardian Business Service and the Industrial Institute of Great Britain and worked with organizations such as British Airways and Price Waterhouse. After moving to the USA, she became involved in the search marketing industry and in 2004 founded Elixir Systems with Dylan Downhill. Since then, Elixir Systems has grown into a leading full service search marketing agency. Elixir Systems is located in Scottsdale, Arizona.
