Amsterdam, Holland (PRunderground) May 26, 2008 – It was one
year ago that the people behind Adthello.com decided that they would launch a
new SEO Web directory. It
was a move that many SEO professionals said would never work, they said Internet
directories were dying. Now, one year later, Adthello.com has proven that not
only is the directory industry alive and kicking, but new players to the game
can have incredible success if done right.
“When we started the Adthello project, people were saying that Web
directories wouldn’t be around much longer,” said spokesman Pascal Smeets. “It
was thought that search engines, especially Google, were penalizing directories.
They couldn’t have been more wrong. Over the past year we’ve watched
Adthello.com go from a meager Page-Rank of zero, to a strong PR5. The sites in
our directory not only receive quality traffic, but their status in Google
search improves as well.”
And helping sites to improve their search rankings is just what Adthello has
done. Unlike other Web directories, who claim to be SEO friendly, Adthello
passes PR “juice” through their links. Other sites use what’s called a
“nofollow” tag, meaning links back to their customers sites may look nice, but
there’s no “juice” being passed on.
“Nofollow tags render a link worthless in the eyes of Google,” says Smeets.
“That’s what makes Adthello a true SEO
friendly Web directory. When we link to our customer’s sites, we
pass some of our PR5 ranking on to them. We’re basically saying to Google that
we believe that link points to a quality site. When directories use the nofollow
tag, they’re telling Google that they linked to the site, but they don’t believe
it’s of any quality.”
