(OPENPRESS) May 28, 2008 -- The inaugural International Search Summit hosted
by multilingual web marketing agency WebCertain has been hailed as a great
success by the attendees.
The event held at the British Library in London
was devised to specifically address the issues that face web marketers when
dealing with content that crosses different cultures and is in different
languages.
Tor Crockett from Microsoft adCenter, Rebecca Berkich, Head of
SEO for Xerox and Anne Kennedy of Beyond Ink were among the speakers sharing
their expertise on multilingual keyword research, managing global SEO campaigns,
the Facebook phenomenon and other subjects.
The highlight of the day for
many was the “post lunch punch-up” when WebCertain’s Managing Director, Andy
Atkins-Kruger was joined on the stage by Kristjan Mar Hauksson (Nordic
eMarketing) and Dixon Jones (Receptional) to take a look at some SEO Howlers –
some of the biggest mistakes made by online marketers.
A wide range of
issues faced by search marketers were addressed by the expert speakers; choosing
the best CMS systems, understanding how search engines read multilingual
content, assessing which global markets to enter, multilingual blogging tactics,
localising link building strategies across different countries and cultures and
more. View the full International Search Summit programme here http://www.internationalsearchsummit.com/
Overwhelmingly positive feedback was given for the two seminars
focussing in detail on the Asian market: Dealing with Asia – big opportunity or
big hype?. The speakers Barry Lloyd of MakeMeTop and Michael Bonfils of SEM
International, both have considerable experience of the challenges of
successfully doing business in China, Japan and Korea.
Their advice and
insights into the complexities of the business cultures in these countries
educated everyone in the room of the extreme dangers of not adapting to local
customs.
Mel Carson has summarised some of his colleague, Tor Crockett’s
advice about keyword selection on the AdCenter Communty blog, Keyword Tips with
an International flavour http://www.adcentercommunity.com/blogs/advertiser /archive/2008/05/23/keyword-research-tips-with-an- international-flavour.aspx.
Delegates, who came from range of organisations including BBC, Sony
Europe and Google, praised the Summit for its relevant content and engaging
speakers, with one commenting “This was a top quality event – clear messages,
practical insights and thought provoking presentations”.
WebCertain’s
Managing Director Andy Atkins-Krüger, who chaired the Summit said “We are
delighted that the International Search Summit has been a success. Multilingual
and international search is something that every company must consider and
implement if it wants to maximise its global online potential and the summit
aims to arm delegates with ideas and suggestions of how to do this.
Videos of highlights from the day will soon be available from the
WebCertain YouTube channel www.youtube.com/multilingualseo
