Oneupweb’s creative stands out among 60,000 entries to become one of only 1,500 national ADDY® finalists. April 22, 2009; 09:50 AM
04.22.2009 – April 22, 2009 (TRAVERSE CITY, MI) – Oneupweb is a bit of
an oddity in this year’s National ADDY® Competition. Situated on the
shores of Grand Traverse Bay, this digital marketing company is far
removed the hustle and bustle of busy metropolitan meccas. And they
aren’t afraid to say it like it is, with a bit of humor added in. And that’s exactly the reason Oneupweb’s One for the Road cookbook
stood out from among 60,000 entries, including those from DDB and Leo
Burnett Chicago, to become one of only 1,500 to advance to the National
ADDY® Competition. “This is exciting,” says Oneupweb CEO and Founder Lisa Wehr. “The One
for the Road cookbook was one of the first pieces that highlighted the
true Oneupweb personality.” According to Wehr, the One for the Road cookbook was created as a
holiday gift for their clients. Bored with the average trinkets and
gift baskets, the digital marketing company wanted to give their
clients something that would stand out, and be used for years to come.
Also, the cookbook was being sent at a time when hopes were down, due
to the economy. “We figured, why a toddies and tapas book? Why not?,” laughs Wehr. And the cookbook explains it all. Printed on the inside front cover is
a tongue-in-cheek message to Oneupweb’s clients that reads: Why a cocktail book? Because let’s face it, the economy may be in the
midst of a royal flush down the john, but we’re kind of sick of talking
about it. A party is a party – and now is the time!” And apparently, the ADDY® judges agreed. In March 2009, Oneupweb announced that they had won four awards from
the Mid-Michigan Advertising and Marketing Association’s 30th Annual
ADDY® Competition, all of which moved on to the AAF District 6 judging.
Against tough competition, the One for the Road cookbook earned a
silver ADDY® and the right for Oneupweb to advance as a national
finalist. The ADDY® Awards are the world's largest and arguably toughest
advertising competition. The ADDY® Awards represent the true spirit of
creative excellence by recognizing all forms of advertising from media
of all types, creative of all sizes and entrants of all levels from
anywhere in the world. The American Advertising Federation, a
not-for-profit industry association, conducts the ADDY® Awards through
its 200 member advertising clubs and 15 districts. It is the only
creative awards program administered by the advertising industry for
the industry. “We’re honored for our work to be recognized among the best in the nation,” says Wehr. About Oneupweb Oneupweb has been an innovator in digital marketing for more than a
