05.25.2009 – Social Media Club Gold Coast is having a drinks and chat meetup on Wednesday, 27th May, from 6 to 8 pm. All welcome. This is an opportunity for social media specialists to hang out with
others in the field. It's also intended very much as an opportunity for
others who are interested in social media and how that could be helpful
for them - in whatever field, business, community organisations,
government, you name it - to spend some friendly time with people who
have the social media story at their fingertips and are only too happy
to share what they know. There will be geeks - but it is not a gathering of geeks so much as an
open house that we all pay for. Yes, until we can score a sponsor or
three, we all have to pay for our own drinks. Some of the people who will be there: Associate Professor of Computer
Science (Bond) Michael Rees, Chapter Convenor and the other members of
the coordinating committee, Glenn Goodman, Peta Hopkins and Des Walsh. Michael Rees said: "The event for May is presentation-free. We thought
it would be a good idea to just have a get-together for some further
social networking. It could also be a good chance to chat informally
about the schedule of events for the group for the rest of '09." Social Media Club Gold Coast is part of an international network which brings together journalists, publishers, communications
professionals, artists, amateur media creators, citizen journalists,
teachers, students, tool makers, and other interested collaborators.
Essentially the people who create and consume media who have an
interest in seeing the ‘media industry’ evolve for everyone’s benefit. Contact Des Walsh: 0413 089 355 | on Twitter @deswalsh Venue: Hotel CBD - www.hotelcbd.net.au (07) 5562 2266
