Laserfiche WebLink 8 Released - Expanding Capability for Web Content Management

Laserfiche® released WebLink 8 today, a customizable Website that provides content portals for public-facing Websites or extranets. “WebLink 8 significantly expands Laserfiche’s enterprise content management offering, especially in the area of Web content management,” said Laserfiche Vice President of Product Management, Tom Wayman. “WebLink enables IT managers to generate a portal site based on a database, without coding or programming. And with WebLink 8’s new built-in customization and layout tools, it serves as a management tool for your public Web portal.”

WebLink 8 will  transform business processes for many industries including government. “WebLink has revolutionized the Clerk of Courts’ office business processes,” said IS Department Project Supervisor Mary Jane McCluskey for York County, PA. With WebLink, York County provides document access not just to citizens, but also to users in 19 Magisterial District Judge offices located throughout the county.

“District judges can now research and access court documents at their convenience, without traveling to the Clerk’s office,” said McCluskey. “Using WebLink public access terminals, citizens can conduct public records searches without taking a clerk’s time away from other valuable duties.”

WebLink 8 makes it simple to provide documents to Web searchers. Documents open directly to the desired page with the search term highlighted. Customized searches guide users to the results they’re looking for, with search terms, thumbnails and additional document information displayed in the search results.

To further extend access to public searchers, WebLink sites can now be crawled by internet search engines, so documents in WebLink can be found the same way users find other pages on the Internet. Users can also stay connected with folder content updates and search results through an RSS feed. And to expand mobile access, WebLink offers support for the iPhone and Android mobile devices.
