Localization World Silicon Valley Offers Multiple Networking Opportunities for Business Executives, including Social Networking Database

September 28, 2009; 02:35 PM

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--At this fall’s Localization World 2009 in Santa Clara, senior executives working in marketing, manufacturing, high tech and localization for international markets will enjoy multiple networking opportunities during this educational forum and tradeshow, “Know-How for Global Success.” In addition to an opening reception, group dinner and two complimentary luncheons, Localization World organizers have developed a social networking portal at LocWorld.net that enables participants to contact each other before or after the event.

Both current and past attendees have been entered into the portal’s database. Each registrant has the ability to list their interests, industry, locales where they operate, and profile information, with control over his or her own accessibility. Users can cloak direct access but still make themselves available through one of the categories. People who have common business interests or who work in the same industry market can approach each other with questions or requests for appointments. The receiver of the email can choose to respond or not. The portal makes it easier for those who have met during the conference to maintain a connection after the tradeshow has concluded.

Sponsors and attendees find the database, which was introduced last year, a good way to reconnect with people whose cards they were unable to collect. “It’s easy to run out of cards at this event because everyone is so open and friendly,” says Daniel Nackovski, president of Across Systems, an exhibitor and sponsor. “By using the database after the conference we could reconnect easily with several executives from LSPs who had expressed an interest in having private demonstrations of our software. It resulted in two sales – so we think it’s great!”

Attendees from more than 30 countries will learn about globalization best practices and latest innovations in localization and Web development from companies who are market leaders in international business. The conference, produced by Multilingual Computing, Inc. and The Localization Institute, will be held October 20 – 22 at the Santa Clara Convention Center in the heart of Silicon Valley. Event sponsors include: Lionbridge Technologies, Inc., Across Systems, Milengo, SimulTrans LLC, and WeLocalize.

The opening reception, open to all registrants and sponsored by SimulTrans, will be held Tuesday, Oct. 20 from 7:00 – 9:30 pm at the upscale, trendy Fahrenheit Ultra Lounge in San Jose. Shuttle transportation will be provided to and from the event.

Cocktails and dinner on Wednesday evening, Oct 21 from 7:00 to 10:00 pm, will be held at the Mountain Winery on outdoor decks overlooking the beautiful hills and valleys of the Santa Cruz Mountains. The historical winery is still operational, dedicated to maintaining Paul Masson vineyard standards. With sponsorship from Lionbridge, the reduced cost of dinner is only $50 to registrants. Transportation will be provided to and from the restaurant. Attendees must purchase tickets beforehand online or may contact Bonnie Merrell at bonnie@localizationworld.com

The conference agenda offers four program tracks: Global Business Best Practices, Managing Global Websites, Core Localization Competencies and Advanced Localization Management. Organizers are offering a much expanded 2009 program at 2008 rates. Attendees are urged to make hotel reservations at headquarters hotel, Hyatt Regency Santa Clara, by October 5, 2009 to ensure discounted room rates.
