Review: OakNet Publishingby Joshua Reimer September 06, 1999 I have used OakNet's services for about a year and a half now, and I just can't stop raving about them. Before I used their servers to send out my newsletter, The Informer, I was having no end of technical and support problems with some of the many free mailing services out there (I tried a number of them). Then I went to OakNet. Night and day! Fast servers. Handy online admin interface. Tech support is always answered by Phil promptly. Although this is a one man company, it is amazingly professional and operates very smoothly. Phil, the owner, does everything possible to give you the best and easiest newsletter mailing experience. You get a free subscriber count on demand via autoresponder, as well as your complete subscriber list in your mailbox when you request it. Also, if you have a reasonable sized subscriber base, he will help sell advertising in your newsletter! He is managing to almost sell out the "top spot" ad space in my newsletter each week, and I get a nice cheque in the mail every week or so. Now that I have raved on for a number of paragraphs about the benefits, what are the disadvantages? Admittedly, the price is more than most servers out there. But I have come to the conclusion that "you get what you pay for". Besides, I much more than make back the amount I pay for the account each month from the advertising Phil sells for me. He pays me much more than I pay him!
