For any endeavor on the Internet it is incredibly important to generate business en masse. If you can’t attract people to your web site, then you don’t get any sales. If you don’t get sales, then you don’t make money and that is the end of your online endeavor.

Alternatively, if you can score big on your web site, then you’ll have ample sales and business for years to come. SEO has been a fairly new craze in the world of web site marketing since search engines have been reading data. Before “Google” and “Ask Jeeves”, they simply sent out spiders to read the meta tags in the web site to locate those words that the searcher used in his inquiry.

Google and Ask now look at content. In that way, they are able to provide many relevant results. In order for you to be highly ranked in search engines, the words in your web pages should be an investment, rather than an afterthought. However does the content really matter in the grand scheme of things? Usually not, but that doesn’t have to be the case.

Composing content specifically to generate web site hits is a scheme many SEO companies utilize. They generate high income by providing web site owners with specialized articles that serve, mainly, to generate traffic to the site thru search engines. Making these articles all filler has an impact on the viewer. Hits don’t make money, sales do and if the customer feels mislead, he won’t buy from the site. Instead, he will undoubtedly find another source to fill his needs.

A lot of keyword research time is spent attempting to locate unused words, phrases and titles from sites that are hit heavy, and re-writing them to be keyword rich to challenge the competition. Meta tags are still in use as some search engines still don’t search for content. Titles are also used to generate hits to web sites and are used to insert the most powerful and unused keyword phrases.

Writers need to create readable content that has the suggested keywords properly placed so that the words flow, keeping the reader focused on the site. Nothing is less effective than web sites with content that says nothing meaningful. A new trend is to create keyword- rich articles about other keyword- rich articles. This allows back linking from search engines that move sites into higher rankings.

In the end, articles need to speak for themselves. They have to fit within the confines of the web site and make sense to the reader. Content is indeed king, since customers that visit a site online expect to learn something new.
