Every search engine optimization campaign will be slightly different from one another but it is important to realize that there are certain fundamental steps that will apply to each and every single campaign. Some of the variables will always be different depending on industry and business but same principals will always apply. I like to take my SEO approach sort of like building a house. You can’t build a solid house without starting with a solid foundation.
Assume your website is the foundation to your entire online marketing campaign. Everything with search engine optimization starts with having a well built and optimized website for all your efforts to really stem from. Remember a major goal with search engine marketing is to drive traffic to your website so the nuts and bolts of the website have to be completely tightened for everything to work how it is supposed to. This means having well written content on all your main pages of your website. You will need well written content for those pages to be sticky in the search engines. Well written meta tags and descriptions with targeted keywords sprinkled in throughout the text is also very important for the wheels to spin correctly. What this means is that when you are finally done with your website it will be completely optimized and search friendly for when you start with the second phase, link building.
The link building acts like the rest of the house. You could see how building the rest of the house before the foundation would be a lot like putting the buggy before the horse. Building a house comes with many diverse approaches, tools and methods. This applies the same to a website link building campaign. If you have a large foundation or website that means you will have a large framing to your house which also means you will have a fairly wide approach to your link building campaign. Link building campaigns really stem from a well built foundation. As your link building campaign grows in size and caliber it will allow the pages of your website to grow in search results but this will only happen if the website sits on a solid foundation meaning the optimization will have to be done correctly to maximize all the opportunities the search engines have available to each business.
