Buying online and buying from a traditional store - these two are actually the same. In online buying, when you see something that look attractive for you, you click on it, and in traditional buying, when you like something, you pick it up and look at it more. If you don't find what you are looking for you put it back and then look for another one or in the case of online buying, you click on the back button.

If you're an online businessman, this is something you would like to avoid. And in doing so, you have to remember a few basic tips for creating a website with design and content that are likely to make your site visitors buy something instead of hit the back button and search somewhere else.

a. Websites that have good content are favored by web users rather than those that have great designs but have poor content. This is why these websites don't have a lot of hits.

b. Remember, web users get bored easily. They don't read through the contents. They just browse through them and look for specific points that can help them navigate.

c. Web users are intolerant and are looking for quick satisfaction. If a web page doesn't meet the expectations of a user, then the designer botched his job. The users don't need to use heavy mental processing to navigate through the site.

d. Web users don't look for the fastest way to find the needed information. They also don't check a web page in a linear fashion or following a sequence. They just choose the first rational option. As soon as they locate a link that seems likely to lead to what they are looking for, chances are, it will be clicked right away.

e. Web users go for intuition instead of read all the information on a webpage. The users really don't care. If they find something that works, they stick to it. They don't have to understand it.

f. Web users want control in their fingertips. Windows popping up unexpectedly are out. They want to be able to return to the site they have been before by hitting the "back" button. Links shouldn't open in a new browser window because the "back" button doesn't apply.

g. These users want to have a web page that is easy to understand and user friendly. They don't want sites that they need to figure out in order to navigate around it. If your site is hard to navigate then they would just close it and move on to the next one. They don't want to think deeply when they navigate a site.

h. If you are planning to offer your website visitors a type of product or service, make sure that you don't require them to fill out long forms for them to be able to create an account. Give them a free hand rather than forcing them to give out personal information about them.
