Quality of Traffic
The goal of your site shouldn't be to just get masses of
people to your site. The goal of your site should be to get
people to BUY YOUR PRODUCT. I seem to have heard that somewhere before.
It's true though. There is no point in getting people whose
sole love in life is raising and selling beetles to come to
your page about window washing, for example.
You need to target the right people.
That sounds simple, but everything is harder than it sounds.
It means that you will have to find sites on a similar
subject to yours, and ask for a reciprocal link. I will talk
more about that in a later chapter.
It means that you will have to optimize the keywords for
your specific subject, and not just use keywords that will get
you the most traffic. I will also talk about that in a later chapter.
You want to bring to your site the types of people that are
prepared to BUY. Or, if your site is trying to sell
advertising, the type of people that are willing to stick
around after the main page has loaded.
It's just something to keep in mind as you promote your site.
Don't try to just get anyone to your site. Use your marketing efforts
where it's worthwhile, and get the traffic that counts.
