Winning Awards

Everyone likes to win an award. And it's not that hard, either! Of course, that may take away a bit of the joy in winning. There are a lot of awards out there that are given out to almost every website that enters.

However, there are a few really good, hard to win awards. These are the ones that everyone tries hard to win... but not many people get. Not even I have gotten all of them. Yet!

But there is some benefit to winning some of the "small time awards". They can:

1. Give you some more traffic. A lot of the sites that present awards often have winners lists. This can be a good way to get a small amount of extra traffic.

2. It can boost your self esteem. I remember the first award I received... it was a pretty small time award, but I still felt pretty happy to get it.

Additional Resources:

3. It can sometimes help boost your visitors opinion of your site. If you display some of the awards you have won, it just might help visitors have a higher expectation of what they will find within, and will prompt them to keep exploring the site.

There lies the problem. Some webmasters get so carried away that they display every award they have ever won on their main page. It slows down the loading time of your website, and really annoys your visitors.

If I were you, I would display awards on your main page only if you have won some of the really big ones. And even then, I would keep it down to only one or two award graphics.

If you do want to display all the awards you have won, though, you can list them on a side page. I used to have one of those, but I started receiving so many awards it got to be too big a job. What a nice problem to have!
