How to Create Systems to Simplify Your Email Marketing

You need to have strong email marketing systems in place in order to effectively monetize your email list. Why? Because sending out email marketing without having systems in place is like throwing spaghetti at the wall to see if it sticks.

Without systems, your email:

  • Might get opened, it might not.
  • Might get sent on a Wednesday, or maybe a Friday. That is, if you remember to do it in the first place.
  • May do more harm than good in terms of creating strong relationships with your list members.

Let's take a look at how to create strong email systems that will ensure a healthy, growing email list made up of targeted prospects and customers who can't wait to buy from you.

Create content in batches

Do you find yourself scrambling to write your emails the same day you want to send a blast to your list? Save time and reduce stress by writing all of your emails for the week (or month) at the same time.

Set aside one day at the beginning of the week to:

  • Collect all the content you'd like to share
  • Write the email copy
  • Upload any relevant photos and videos
  • Create the emails in your email program

Automate your emails

Once you've created all of your email content for the week or month, load everything up into Infusionsoft, 1ShoppingCart (aka NetOfficeToolbox), Constant Contact, iContact, Aweber or whatever email service provider you currently use.

Schedule each email to go out on the date and time that gets the highest open rates. Don't forget to include yourself on your own email list to make sure the automation is working!

Stick to a schedule

Without an email calendar, you're far more likely to skip sending emails, or to only send emails whenever you happen to have time.

Committing to sending an email every Monday, or every Tuesday and Friday, will ensure that your list remains 'warm' and you're strengthening customer relationships on a regular basis.

Analyze your results

None of the above systems matter if you don't analyze your results. It's easy to send out a bunch of emails and hope that something sticks. However, it's far more effective to take a good, hard look at your results and make changes accordingly.

Set aside one day at the end of the week to log into your email program and take a look at your results. (If you get excited by numbers, you will check this daily J)

Ask yourself...

  • Which emails got the highest open rates?
  • Which links got the highest click through rates?
  • What does this information tell me about what my customers need and want the most?

If an email about gardening shears got a 10% open rate and no clicks, but an email about fertilizer got a 33% open rate and a high click-through rate, you know it's time to focus on fertilizer!

In addition to tailoring email content based on your results, you can also tweak your blog posts, videos, and other marketing materials to better serve your customers' needs.

To create strong email systems, remember to...

  1. Create email content in batches
  2. Pre-schedule your emails each week
  3. Stick to a consistent schedule
  4. Analyze your results

By adopting these easy-to-use systems, you'll save hours each week while cultivating lucrative relationships with your growing email list.
