Top 7 Reasons Why Affiliate Marketers Fail

Affiliate marketing is obviously a great, and simple way to profit online. For affiliate marketers, as well as vendors that is. However... There are a lot of traps affiliate marketers usually fall into in the very beginning, that makes them lose loads of money, and give up. - Thats a bad combination. If you have lost a lot of money, you must have learnt something that you can take advantage of later. I have compiled an overview of the 7 most common mistakes here:

1. PPC Most affiliates that's new to selling things online, think that PPC ads are a goldmine. They buy some E-Book about making money online, sign up with clickbank, then sign up with adwords and try to sell the E-Book they bought at once, with their own affiliate link inside thinking they will make money soon... Surprise! In most cases they won't even make a penny! Because PPC programs like AdWords take a lot of time to master. Plus you need to find a really good product, with medium to none competition.

2. Website Affiliate marketers often don't realize the massive advantage of having a website. At least not when they have AdWords. But having a website is close to essential to make a lot of money online. However, SOME people can profit from AdWords - And they even have websites to sell their valuable information to others - When they make so much money using their own methods. Just think of it, it doesn't make sense to not have a website, when everyone who profit online does ;o)

3. Mailing list's Affiliates who have websites must realize the necessity of capturing their visitor's e-mail. You need to make them come back! Then you can sell them your E-Books with resell rights, or mail them links to sites you are affiliate for.

4. Only following "the book" If all affiliate marketers had only the same idea's and ways of doing things, everyone would make the same amount of money(IF they make money). You should find out what works, and then tweak it with your own idea's. Then test, test and test some more to find out which of your idea's that works.

5. Trying to sell the book they bought. Most E-Books about how to make money online are telling you to "simply do this" and then give you an almost set up PPC ad, including keywords and everything. That basicly means that everyone doing that, gives the e-book free traffic, rapid expansion of their opt-in list, and extreme competition for everyone trying to do exactly that. So never use the exact same PPC ad that they want you to. Banners and other creatives however, can you use as much as you like.

6. Going for affiliate programs without support. Any good affiliate program should always have good support, so you can get answers to your questions fast and easy. Within 24 hours is ok, or if they have a good "help you help yourself" resource.

7. Targeted traffic Never buy targeted traffic! Period. I personally haven't tried it much, but it didn't work at all when I did. At that time, I was quite a newbie though, who wanted to profit as quicly as possible, so I just smacked in my raw affiliate link to a "pay-per-mail" service that the program I was affiliate for recomended. I was stupid. - If it was so great, why didn't he do it himself?

Conclusion? Well, affiliate marketing isn't as easy as it first seem. So don't fall in the terrible traps that new affiliates do. - Affiliate marketing was made so vendors could make even more money, and they definately do! So if you manage to avoid these 7 traps, you should have your chances of success quadrupled. - At least ;o)
