Twenty One Pilots Partners with Raleigh Digital Marketing Agency to Shine a Spotlight on Fans

Creative Allies Fuels Another Crowdsourced Contest to Promote the Chart-topping Band’s Latest Tour

July 19, 2019 - Raleigh, NC - Creative Allies is wrapping up its most successful contest ever with Twenty One Pilots’ fandom taking center stage. The Raleigh-based firm teamed up with the Grammy Award-winning alt-rock group to give followers a unique platform to express their creativity around the band’s latest tour. In addition to jaw-dropping live performances punctuated by stunts, illusions, and pure showmanship, the duo asked their fans to design tour posters inspired by Twenty One Pilot’s latest album, Trench. The contest drew thousands of entries from their dedicated followers, known as the “Skeleton Clique,” using Creative Allies’ design platform

“We are thrilled that the band came back to us to facilitate this fan engagement campaign and I love the fact that the band is always looking for creative ways to engage with their fans,” said Amie Thompson, President, and CEO of Creative Allies, an agency specializing in crowdsourced creative design campaigns. “We knew this would be much bigger than our last campaign with Twenty One Pilots in 2016 but none of us were prepared for this reaction. Nearly 30,000 fans participated in the four-month engagement. I experienced their amazing show in Raleigh and it solidified why their fans are so loyal and obsessive!”

Twenty One Pilots has dominated the alternative music scene since releasing Vessel in 2013, surpassing 14.5 million monthly listeners on Spotify and selling more than 10 million records worldwide while garnering multiple accolades including Grammys, American Music Awards, MTV Awards, and more. Despite their global success, Twenty One Pilots sought out Creative Allies to create a campaign that would connect fans with the band in a meaningful way. This most recent engagement is the third time the duo has partnered with Creative Allies, showcasing the results a local agency brings to an international campaign. By promoting fan-designed poster art at each of the 32-city tour stops, Twenty One Pilots was able to build awareness and hype for the duration of their schedule. Bandmates Josh Dun and Tyler Joseph hand-picked each design winner during the second North American leg of the international Bandito Tour. Winning artists banked $250 cash, two tickets to the Bandito Tour, an autographed merchandise pack and recognition on social media.

This kind of direct fan engagement is an example of how Creative Allies’ leverages its creative community and its crowdsourced technology platform to deliver campaigns in a unique way. The agency has executed initiatives for global brands like KISS, BIC, Art.com, ESPN X Games, and Ben & Jerry’s. In addition to working with established companies, Creative Allies is focusing its efforts on supporting emerging businesses and startups, offering a variety of marketing services to cater to any budget. Its goal is simple - to harness freelance talent around the world that disrupts conventional marketing in today’s gig economy.
