As you probably already know, Internet marketing is basically an essential if you want your company to be successful in today's busy and Internet-reliant world. However, you shouldn't be sticking to the same California SEO strategies that you have been using for years; otherwise, you could find your efforts to be hopelessly outdated. Therefore, it is important to make sure that you avoid these four outdated Internet marketing strategies if you would like to achieve real success online.

Targeting Old Social Media Websites

Although you might have worked hard to establish your company and profile on sites like Xanga back in the day, none of this is going to benefit you very much in today's world. Therefore, there is no need in wasting your time on these sites or thinking that having an established fan base there will help you out in the coming months. Instead, you should rethink your strategy and start working on building a nice base on today's more popular social media sites, such as Twitter and Facebook.

Marketing to Everyone

The truth is that not every business or website is right for every audience. Whether you're selling horse tack, quilting supplies or legal services, you have to understand that you can't target the entire Internet and expect to receive the reaction that you are looking for. Instead, you should work to target an audience that might actually be interested in the products and services that you are promoting.

Working on Other Platforms

There are plenty of platforms out there that can make it easy for you to create content, but it's best to avoid doing so because various platforms like Facebook, Vine and more could all shut down at any minute. Instead, it's ideal to create all of your best work for your own platforms, such as on your own website that is controlled and managed by you or parties you trust.

Not Paying Attention to Analytics

Several years ago, a lot of website and blog owners avoided looking at the stats and analytics for their websites because they didn't really know what to do with them.  They also may not have found them to be all that important. However, there are plenty of tools that make it easy to track these things nowadays, and you can use this information as a great way to successfully measure how to improve your site in the future.  These tools have come a long way and can prove highly beneficial.

Even though it can be difficult to break old habits and move on to new things, ditching these kinds of outdated methods of Internet marketing and moving on with the times and trends can help you be as successful as possible in the contemporary Internet Age.
