5 Things That Webmasters Worry About Too Much

Stop Worrying About These 5 Things If You're A Webmaster

Being a webmaster is not easy. There is a lot of things that webmasters worry about – everything from their link building strategy to the next algorithm update from Google. But there are some things that webmasters spend too much time stressing out over – time that should be spent creating and developing content for their website. In this post, I have compiled a list of 5 things that, in my opinion, webmasters spend far too much time worrying about.

  1. LSI keywords – If you are keeping count of how many LSI keywords you have in your posts and sacrificing the quality of your content for the sake of having the right amount of LSI keywords, you are definitely over-doing it. The best advice I can give you here is to just write naturally and not worry about whether your content is SEO-friendly. If you are producing quality content, then there is nothing else you need to worry about.

  2. H2/3/4 Tags – The only aspects of on-page SEO that can make a noticeable difference in rankings are the page title, H1 tag, URL, and the number of times the keyword is mentioned in the content. Other things like H2/3/4, meta description, meta keyword tags, etc are essentially irrelevant to most search engines due to webmasters abusing and spamming them over the years.

  3. Bounce Rate – It has been confirmed by distinguished engineer Matt Cutts of Google, that bounce rate does not have an effect on a website’s ranking. If you think about it, it does make sense because when a user types in a query in Google and clicks through a website, and the website provides the information that the user was looking for, there’s a good chance that the user is going to exit the website rather than click on other links. Bounce rate is something that webmasters should use to analyze visitor behavior rather than treating it as something that will effect their rankings.

  4. Pagerank – Pagerank is definitely an important factor in search engine rankings, but it is not something that should be monitored constantly. Pagerank is updated every 3 months, not every day or every week. Besides, studies have shown that domain authority is a better indicator of how well a site will rank than Pagerank is. Domain authority is a numeric representation of a website’s link popularity ranging from 1-100. Like Pagerank, it increases logarithmically, meaning that it is much easier to go from 20 to 30 than it is to go from 70 to 80. There are many free tools available on the internet that allow you to check domain authority, plus numerous other metrics.

  5. Keyword Density – There is no reason to spend a considerable amount of time worrying about keyword density. As long as the keyword you want to rank for is mentioned at least a few times throughout the body of your content, you don't have anything to worry about. There is no ideal number, anywhere from 1% to 7% is probably fine. The advice I gave when talking about LSI keywords also applies here – just write naturally, and don’t sacrifice the quality of the content to try to improve your keyword density.
