Should I Do SEO In-House or Outsource It?

Most companies are realizing that search engine optimization (SEO) is an integral part of marketing. The trick is to have it done right, and there are two ways to do that – in house or outsourcing.

How do you know which path to take and which will benefit you the most? Depending on a few things, one or the other may be best for you and your company.

Take a look at these factors to help decide which method would suit you the best.

In House

• By working on your SEO management in house, you have complete control over all the efforts. You can track and manage everything going on, make changes as soon as you notice a need, and adapt quickly.

• If you have savvy people already on your team, whether in the marketing department or other areas of your business, you should consider in house work. If they can get it done in a professional manner and know what needs to be done for high ranking SEO, as well as how to keep an eye on how well it’s doing, use who you have. You don’t need to spend the money on outsourcing if you already have a capable team or person to work on it.

• With in house SEO management, your team can meet on a regular and/or more impromptu basis if needed. You don’t need to wait to schedule appointments and meetings with an outside company. If you see the need to change or modify your current SEO, your in house team can probably make the changes quicker.

• Your in house staff will know your company better than anyone else. They will be more invested than an outside source.

Outsourcing

• When you hire a professional company to handle your SEO, you can be assured the job and management will be done right. They will be skilled in getting high ranks for your company through SEO, and you won’t need to worry if they are really capable.

• If your choice is hiring a new in house person or outsourcing a company to manage your SEO, you may consider outsourcing. Though you’ll have to work it into your budget, it probably will be more cost effective than hiring a new employee.

• By hiring someone, you have a company dedicated to making your SEO endeavors successful. That is their sole job. If you use in house help for this, they may have other responsibilities to pay attention to and not do the job as thoroughly.  You should have an outsourced professional’s full attention.

• If it doesn’t work, you can find another firm or professional to help; you haven’t invested in much in them as you would a full time employee.

Good and effective SEO management involves more than you may think.

It is constantly evolving and SEO takes a good bit of expertise and knowledge, not only of SEO itself, but also your company.

You want to choose the best scenario for you and your company while considering SEO management, including time, money and know how.
