One Week Left To Submit For SXSW Interactive Web Awards

Austin, TX - (PromotionWorld) - December 13, 2004 - Only one week left to enter the 2005 South by Southwest (SXSW) Interactive Web Awards by its deadline, December 17. SXSW Interactive is calling all Web developers, designers and digital artists to submit their latest online work to the 2005 Web Awards, the premier evening event of the SXSW Interactive Festival. The annual Web site competition honors top digital innovators and creatives who continue to push the boundaries in Web development and design.

The categories for submission include: Amusement, Art, Blog, Business: For-Profit, Business: Green/Non-Profit, CSS, Classic, Community/Wiki, Educational Resource, Experimental, Film/TV, Flash, Music, Personal Portfolio, Student and Technical Achievement. Additional awards are given for "People's Choice" and "Best in Show." Winners in over seventeen categories, as well as the "People's Choice" and "Best in Show" award will be revealed at the 2005 Web Awards Ceremony on Sunday, March 13.

"The SXSW Web Awards uncover the most innovative and imaginative new sites on the Web," explains Shawn O'Keefe, SXSW Web Awards Coordinator. "The competition helps promote the incredible creativity that makes this medium so exciting...this creativity is what SXSW Interactive is all about."

This year the SXSW Web Awards are offering a prize package to the "Best of Show" winner, valued at more than $1000 and growing. The prize package will be filled with tech-related prizes, along with a travel package for the 2006 SXSW Festival, which includes a platinum pass, four nights hotel accommodation in Austin, as well as a round-trip domestic ticket on American Airlines. Winners of The "Best of Show" award is given to the judges' favorite finalist site from the competition.

Comedian Laura Swisher is scheduled to emcee the 2005 Web Awards Ceremony. Well known for her work on the "Unscrewed with Martin Sargent" show on G4techTV and from her appearances on Comedy Central's "Premium Blend" and NBC's "Last Comic Standing," she performs stand-up throughout Los Angeles at local hotspots such as The Improv and The Laugh Factory.
