Mediasmith Appoints Bob Heyman Joins as Chief Search Officer

October 01, 2004 - (PromotionWorld) - Mediasmith Inc. (www.mediasmith.com ) announced that Bob Heyman has joined the agency as Chief Search Officer. Mr. Heyman is a leading author and entrepreneur in the field of Internet Marketing.

At Cybernautics, a company founded by Heyman in 1994 and sold to USWeb in 1997, Heyman coined the terms "Audience Development" for building traffic to websites, and "Search Engine Optimization" (SEO). He is generally credited
with inventing the agency side of the search engine management (SEM) process.

Dave Smith, CEO of Mediasmith, welcomed the addition of Heyman. "Mediasmith is all about media integration of all media. Bob showed us how we could make search strategic, rather than have it exist in a silo as it does in the dedicated search/technology companies that are doing search marketing
today. Search has grown to be 1/3 to 1/2 of the Web expenditure for many companies, yet it remains tactical. We plan to change that effective immediately for our clients."

From 1998 to 2001 Heyman was founder and CEO of eMarketing Partners, where his clients included IBM, NEC and ABC.  The company was acquired in 2001 by the Catenas Corporation. He also co-founded CybeReps which was acquired by Interep.

His books include Net Results and Net Results.2 (MacMillan/New Riders Press) and The Auction App (McGraw Hill).

Heyman holds a Masters from Harvard and a law degree from the University of California.  Golden Gate University awarded him an honorary doctorate in 2000 when he was the school's Commencement Speaker.  Also in 2000, SF Mayor Willie Brown declared October 19th to be "Bob Heyman Day".

In a prior life prior to the Internet, Heyman was an entertainment attorney, representing such stars as Maria Muldaur, Jefferson Starship and the New Riders of the Purple Sage.  His rock opera "Rock Justice", co-written with
Marty Balin of Jefferson Starship, is listed in the Book of Rock Lists.
