'Guarantees' are an instant hit among clients. Customers generally
prefer vendors who offer them guaranteed results because there is
security for their investments in terms of assured results. However, it
is not so in case of search engine optimization. There are certain
service providers who try to mislead clients by promising them
guaranteed high placements in the search engines. However, these are
all nothing but false calls.
The fact is search engine
optimization is an ongoing procedure that requires a lot of time and
effort but no matter how much time one devotes, one cannot assure
results. Here are some reasons why “guaranteed search results” are just
a slimy catchphrase.
1. Such claims have loose base!
Companies
who promise guaranteed top listings in search results often claim of
having automated softwares and link exchange tools that would
popularize your website across the internet. This is against the very
basics of search engine optimization. SEO is a processes where you need
to do some intelligent link building and thus popularize your website.
The quality of the links is as important as their quantity. If an
automated software generates link from 1000 irrelevant websites, then
it would do more harm than good to your website credibility.
Also,
many SEO companies that guarantee rankings actually have a list of
certain keywords that they choose themselves. They are a bunch of
non-competitive terms that have a high rate of success but do
absolutely no good to the website because the target audience wouldn't
even search for them. So these keyword rankings does not provide any
serious traffic.
2. Search Engines warn against it!
Yes!
Go through the Google guidelines for search engine optimization and
search marketing. It clearly states that “No one can guarantee a #1
ranking on Google.” Google as well as other search engines have their
specialized criteria to place importance on a website and determine
their ranking in the search results. Search engine optimizers can only
follow their guidelines for effective optimization but there is no sure
shot one way to assure the no. # 1 position in the SERPs. Any company
that claims to have a “special” relationship with Google and thus
promises the top slots is just making false promises.
3. Rankings are Inherently Unstable
Search
results vary across different geographical regions. Also, it is not the
same when your query hits different data centers. The search result
fluctuates when you are logged into your account in comparison to when
you are not. With such dynamic fluctuations, how can any company
guarantee assured positioning in the search results and that too within
the top slots specifically.
4. High Rankings don't necessarily equal More Traffic!
An
SEO campaign is successful when it gets the website huge amounts of
traffic that further helps to generate more revenue for the business.
Getting a top spot for the website is completely useless if you don't
receive any additional traffic to your website. Therefore make sure the
SEO company targets relevant keywords and phrases and optimize them
instead of selecting random irrelevant words and pushing them up the
charts.
